GS Primary Customer Profile
GS Primary Load Profiles were developed using NorthWestern
Energy's 1996 and 1997 GS Primary load research data and Load Vision profiling software.
The profiles represent typical GS Primary loads primary customers with billing demands
less than 500 kW. Daily profiles are presented for four seasons with three day types in
each of the seasons.
| Seasons |

Winter: DEC, JAN, FEB
Spring: MAR, APR, MAY
Summer: JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP
Autumn: OCT, NOV |
Weekday: Monday - Friday
Saturday
Sunday |
A total of 12 day types, each with a 24-hour
load profile, are included in the GS Primary csv file. Each of these days was chosen to be
representative for that day type in a selected season.
Using the GS Primary Profile
The following steps explain one method of estimating the
hourly load profile for a target GS Primary customer (target customer can be one customer
or the sum of multiple customers).
- Use knowledge of the target customers usage such as
billing data to estimate energy for the desired month.
- Calculate the typical customer usage for the month from the
profile data:
- Determine the number of weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for
the month.
- Multiply the number of each day types selected by the energy
for that day types.
- Sum all the energies for the day types to arrive at the
monthly energy for the typical customer.
- Calculate the ratio of the target customer (calculated in
step 1) to the typical customers energy (calculated in step 2).
- To calculate the hourly demands for the target customer on a
specific day, select the seasonal day type from the GS primary file and multiply the
profile by the target customer ratio from step 3.
- To determine the load profile, multiply the
demand profile from step 4 by the customer class loss multiplier.
Open GS Primary Customer Load CSV File.
